Not Bad for a Boy from Belfast tells the inspiring life story of Fred Thompson—a boy from Belfast whose resilience, hope, and determination carry him through adversity. Co-written with Ross from The Write Attitude, it’s a captivating memoir that celebrates the power of perseverance.
I collaborated with Fred and Ross to bring this story to life visually, designing both hardback editions with dust jackets and softcover versions. This included crafting internal page layouts and creating a set of dinkus icons to guide readers and unify the narrative. Typography was chosen to feel timeless and approachable, while the page design ensures a smooth, engaging read—letting Fred’s journey shine without distraction.
Every design choice was made to reflect the spirit of his story—honest, heartfelt, and quietly powerful. I loved giving Fred’s journey a home that resonates and feels as personal as the memoir itself.
